Welcome to the TrainonSEC Project!

TrainonSEC is a project funded by the European Commission within the Marie Curie European Industrial Doctorate (EID) programme, involving four institutions.

This includes:

  • Pure Air Solutions from The Netherlands, a highly innovative company providing new technologies for air pollution treatment;
  • Altacel Transparent, a company from Holland which includes the problemowner perspective;
  • Ekwadraat, a Dutch company responsible for the scalability of the research;
  • and the Research Group of Environmental Engineering of the University of Valencia in Spain, specialists in the field of biotreatment of polluted air.

The TrainonSEC project (September 2013 – September 2017) offers to 4 early stage researchers an innovating professional framework and advanced training to carry out their PhDs, in the area of Clean Technology.

The scientific goal of this program is to find environmentally friendly solution for industrial processes using solvents by reducing waste emissions while decreasing energy demand through the production and use of bio-energy. A novel biotechnology, will be developed for this purpose. The researchers will be exposed to a broad range of disciplines (chemical and mechanical engineering, environmental science, microbiology, automation) while being an active part of a highly innovate program that aims to transform an environmental concern (solvent emissions control) into a bio-energy production process. The fellows will additionally receive training in a complete set of key transferable skills that will help them to excel, in real-life situations, in innovate and competitive business environments, thus enhancing their employability.

The project TrainonSEC arose as a result of a previous jointly work between University of Valencia and Pure Air Solutions in the Project Next Air Biotreat focused on  improving a biological system that uses clean and natural processes to remove VOCs, funded by the European Commission within the Marie Curie Industry and Academia Partnerships & Pathways (IAPP) progamme.
